Concessions for Kim Davis – ’cause she won’t do her Job?

In Beyond Stupid, Maybe they should just GET OVER IT on Tuesday, September 8th, 2015 at 6:52 PM

I truly don’t understand why there is any question, comment or call for concessions for this law-breaker?

When did it become acceptable that every single issue, circumstance, comment and action is scrutinized, questioned, judged and a cause for “concessions” to be considered for the individuals involved?  When did we – Society on the whole – become so sensitive and above all laws, rules, and generally accepted behavior that we need an act of Congress to fart???

Case in point, Kim – the hypocritical, pompous, Holier then Thou – Davis, the Rowan County, Kentucky Clerk who is being hailed as a “Christen Extraordinaire” for breaking the law!  No one is questioning her freedom of religion, nor her commitment to its tenants.

I understand she has been married and divorced, 3 or is it 4 times, (granted straight man-woman unions),but what “religion” did she subscribe to that allowed, condoned or supported those actions.  Was that the religion that taught her it was “God’s Will” that she could break the Laws of the Land imposing her beliefs on others, impeding their rights and freedoms?  When did she get so enlightened and Holy?  How “Christian” is that attitude?

Not to mention that our Government is based on the SEPARATION of Church and State.  They are to co-exist, mutually respectful of the other, but not to interfere with the each other.  I do understand, support and agree that total, complete separation is impossible.  We are human, complete with feelings, emotions and beliefs, and both institutions are intertwined in our lives, they give us the fabric of Society.  But, that said, the Laws of the Land can NOT be ignored based on the Laws of our faith.  Nor should we allow the Laws of our Faith to be compromised by the Law of the Land.  The Law of the Land is not arbitrary, to be obeyed, or not, based on how one “feels,” the Laws of our Faith are personal and arbitrary.  We can choose to obey or not, but even then, it is personal and has No impact on any others.

Pure and simple the question is – is she doing the job for which she was hired/elected to do, or isn’t she?  She wasn’t given the Job to judge, others.  She wasn’t appointed King.  She is a CLERK, a cog in the wheel of public service – PERIOD!  So I can see only two options.  Do the Job or get impeached; or Resign and hold fast to your Faith.

Is the state of Georgia under attack?

In Beyond Stupid on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 at 3:41 PM

Oh my God!!!  Was Georgia’s Governor, Nathan Deal, really smiling when he signed Georgia’s new Gun Law?  Is he that proud of this legislation or is he really that STUPID??

Now don’t get all Second Amendment on me!  Don’t think that because I’m from Connecticut where the most irrefutable senseless mass killing of innocent children and teachers took place, (Newtown), that I don’t, can’t, won’t appreciate and RESPECT the Second Amendment.

What I don’t, can’t, won’t accept is the obsession with, and abuse of, the intent and purpose of the Second Amendment, just to satisfy the lunatics in the NRA!  Guns are NOT the problem, I agree and support that.  Those obsessed with their “right” to carry ARE the problem!  Why aren’t they viewed in the same light as anyone obsessed with sex, pornography, gambling, speeding, drinking, etc is? That they are of questionable character.

When the Second Amendment was added to our Constitution, there WERE – past tense – needs, reasons, purposes for carrying a gun – yes.  Protection, as there were NO organized or effective police departments to protect individuals, nor was there an army to protect the masses.  However, there were also NO “automatic” – semi or otherwise guns.  No magazines – let alone those capable of holding excessive rounds of ammunition.   No one had bigger, better fire power, thus everyone was basically on equal ground.

I hear the arguments that if everyone did have a gun, there would be less violence, as no one would shoot, if they knew they’d get shots back.  Also, they Need them to Protect themselves and their families.  All right, let’s take a breath and think about these arguments.

First, every day the news is flooded with violence.  Domestic abuse, anyone who is in a relationship knows that if they punch someone they could get punched back, or shot, if EVERYONE has a gun – right?  Road rage, everyone who has a car knows that if they cut someone off, or honk, or flip the bird, they might get cut off, or honked at or shot, if EVERYONE has a gun – right?

Second, Who is “attacking” them and their families necessitating that they need to defend themselves?  Wouldn’t that be the criminal or NUT with a gun, since everyone should have a gun?  Right?

I’ll agree we need the right to protect ourselves.  In Church?  School?  A Theater?  Yes, there have been tragedies in all three, would a gun-fight really have prevented these atrocities or made them any less of a tragedy?  Or better in any way?  HOW?

Now how about those places where people get angry, or could possibly use bad judgement.  A Bar(fight), Casino or Racetrack, (bad losers), the Highway,(see above), or Grocery store Checkout line that someone cuts into?  Are those really the places you want people to have guns??  Really, for protection, from whom – the other gun carriers?

Again, Guns are not the problem the people, criminals, nuts who use them are!  Without better BACKGROUND checks and laws to minimize guns getting into their hands – Who can tell the difference, and How?

I guess I’ll just stay OUT of Georgia!
